Geometry Lesson:
Linear shapes made appearances all over Milan, from Ferragamo’s grid skirt to Fendi’s concentric circles.
Boys Club:
There’s no need to raid your boyfriend’s closet for his blazer next spring—Bottega Veneta, Jil Sander, and Versace are doing their own feminized versions of the classic menswear staple.
Color Revival:
Brights are back this season: Indulge in Yves Klein blue, grass green, and a juicy shade of orange that screams summer.
So Transparent:
Sheer fabrics shaped up to be one of spring’s biggest trends, shifting the paradigm of sex appeal. Raf Simons veiled nearly every look at Jil Sander, Anna Molinari played with peek-a-boo with dresses, and Prada’s pants were but an illusion.
Brocade Brigade:
Some of the season’s most luxurious fabrics had an almost upholstery-like quality to them, full of rich patterns and metallic accents.
Fringe Benefits:
Fringe got sophisticated for spring, with glamorized versions at Emporio Armani, Versace, and Burberry.
Summer of Love:
Hippies are style icons once more, with Cavalli doing retro floral prints, Pucci updating the poncho, and Etro showing a shrunken vest with suede boots that made for a highly refined Woodstock look.
Artist's Touch:
Painters had a place outside of the galleries and museums this season in Milan, with Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci splattering their creations with elegantly haphazard streaks of paint.
Melting Pot:
Call it the cross-cultural phenomenon: Many designers used a range of international influences within one look, like Prada’s Asian-inspired silk pants and top in a decidedly Scottish plaid.
It's a Cinch:
Start whittling that waistline, because it’s going to be on full display for spring. Burberry, D&G, and Anna Molinari all showed off smartly belted natural waists.
Thank You ELLE
