Designer Prom Dress Tips

A designer prom dress isn't cheap so you need to be confident that the gown will show you off at your best. However, just buying an expensive designer label isn't going to guarantee that you'll look beautiful for Prom; in fact the opposite can be true. Here are some tips to help make sure you get one that's best for you.

Whether buying a cheap department store gown or a beautiful designer prom dress a girl can find it difficult to find one that flatters her. She maybe a confident teenager who has no problems buying the latest trendy jeans and tops, but buying a formal gown leaves her at a loss. This isn't surprising as most girls will have never worn one before. However, by following certain guidelines, much of the stress and confusion can be eliminated, so buying the gown and accessories can actually be fun.

Like wedding gowns, prom dresses run at least one size smaller so pick dresses a size larger and you'll get a perfect fit. Also, if shopping online, many websites have a measurement guide for the designer gowns they sell. By following these carefully, you can be sure it'll fit perfectly.

Don't set your heart on one particular style of dress. Different styles of dresses complement different body shapes. So, keep an open mind. Try out different styles to find the one that best flatters your figure. Girls are often amazed that they look fabulous in a dress that they had previously dismissed.

When you visit the boutique, don't be shy. Try the dress on; after all it's your money, your time and your big day. Besides, a dress looks more beautiful when worn than on a hanger.

Seek the opinions of friends and family. After all, they know you best and will offer you honest advice on what styles and colors best suit you. But remember, it's your day so the final decision is yours.

The sales person in the boutique will be very knowledgeable about the designer prom dresses they stock. They also understand just how difficult it can be for a girl to find that perfect dress. Talk to them and ask for their advice.

For many, there's nothing worse than going to Prom only to find someone else wearing exactly the same gown. Buying a designer prom dress helps, as they're more unique, but your best bet is to talk to your friends and let them know which dress you're buying; that way they'll look for something different.

To have the largest selection you need to start shopping earlier in either January or February.

Buy the dress a couple of months before hand so you can make any alterations that are need. Just about all gowns will require some minor alteration; remember; Prom time is a very busy time for alteration services.

Try to buy your accessories at the same time you buy your dress. Many boutiques and online retailers will have a selection of accessories that will complement the dress.

Finally, set a budget and stick to it. If you spend more than you had originally planned to on that beautiful designer prom dress then you should reduce the amount you spend on the accessories.

How To Pick Jewelry That Fits Your Physical Style

Certainly, you may wear the jewelry you feel most comfortable with. Just like fashion statements when choosing your clothing, there are some suggestions you might consider when choosing your jewelry. There are some general rules to follow that will assist you while selecting jewelry that is right for you.

Take a look at your bone structure and your height. If you are Petite, or under 5'4" your best length for necklaces would be no shorter than your collar and could go even longer. To make your appearance seem to be taller, you should consider V-shape necklaces that are below your breast, but above your waste.

For a petite person, narrower bracelets are more appealing. Instead of one wider bracelet wear a few smaller ones together that compliment each other. Bangle bracelets will look nice also. Stay away from the wider bracelets.

The earrings worn by a petite woman should encourage the eyes to look upward. This is especially helpful for the fuller figured petite woman. This helps take the focus off of her body weight and focus more on her face. Look for more geometric designs. This will look the best on you if you fall into this category.

What is your facial shape? There are four shapes to consider. The shapes are oval, round, heart, and rectangular. The best way to determine your shape is took look at your face with your hair pulled back. What do you think it resembles? If you are having a hard time you could even draw on the mirror the outline of your face. This might be an easier way to determine where you fit in.

If you have the oval shape, you are considered to have the perfect shape. Lucky you! You can wear any style of necklace and it all looks great on you. The earrings that you wear well, are triangular in shape. You can pull off wearing other styles, be careful that your dangles are not too long.

The hairstyle that would best suit a woman with an oval face would be pulled back or actually in an updo hairstyle. If you choose to wear you hair longer, why not go for a to the shoulders look with either a middle or a to the side part?

Stay tuned for more on this subject matter in my next article. The next size I will cover is the Average, which will cover people who fit in the range from 5'4" to 5'7", and the round face shape. I hope this helps you whiling making the important choices you have to make while selecting a piece of jewelry. It is important that you pick pieces that you will wear for many years to come, and that make you feel beautiful each day!

Fall fashion trends to make you look fabulous after 40!

Fall Fashion Trends that will make you look Fabulous after 40!

Want to look Fab this fall, but confused about what styles a woman over 40 should wear to make her look like a boomer babe? Heres a rundown of the latest Fall Fashion Trends with suggestions for what works best for midlife mamas!

Gray is the next big Color

Gray may be the new black but its one color trend that youll want to be careful with. Not everyone looks good in gray, particularly if you have warm skin tones. It also has the tendency to wash you out after 40. So, be careful of this often "blah" color, and make sure to pair it with one that will brighten a dreary day up like a beautiful shade of plum or red.

Extreme Pants

This fall it designers cant seem to make up their minds, so theyre doing both the wide legged pant and the skinny pant. The wide leg pant looks good on almost everyone, particularly women with bigger hips because the flare of the legs will balance you out. Just make sure the top you choose to go with wide legged pants is not bulky, or youll look like a big block. Also, if you are going to add a jacket, it should be short and fitted; otherwise you look overwhelmed by fabric. If you are slim with long legs, then you can pull off the skinny pant. Try pairing it with chunky knit sweater for a hip, sexy look.

The Vest

Menswear is hot for fall. That means the vest is back and in high demand. If want you to look stylish after 40 the vest can be a fun and trendy way to update your wardrobe. Layered under a jacket, or worn over a loose blouse with either wide or narrow leg pants, or a long skirt, it is this seasons statement piece

Chunky Sweaters

We just talked about pairing a bulky sweater with skinny pants. Fine, but beware of bulky sweaters worn with anything else. Why? Oversized sweaters can read "m" as in matronly. Thats because bulky sweaters add bulk! You dont need that especially if you are already busty or have a no so taught tummy like many of us over 40.

High-heeled Oxfords

High heeled Oxfords work well with the menswear look, or the Parisian look that is so popular this fall (French tam, sweater, silky skirt). These shoes have a schoolgirl meets granny look about them and are difficult to pull off unless your style is more like Diane Keaton or Lauren Hutton. They work best with pants and pantsuits.

Patterned Opaque Hose

Dark, Opaque hose can do wonders for lengthening legs and pulling together an outfit. This year, were seeing lots of oversized big patterns, from fishnets, to prints. Theyre a must for anyone willing to try another hot new trend -- the skirt with ankle booties.

Bold Accessories

This fall jewelry is bold and heavy. Thick jeweled cuffs, layered necklaces, and giant rings, seem just right with the heavy fabrics and thick knits were seeing on the runways. Falls sexy is chic and ladylike with bursts of statement jewelry, great for women who want to look stylish after 40.

12 fall trends : Integrate style trends into your wardrobe

Each season women are perplexed by new trends they see in the stores and magazines. Professional women are looking for an easy way to update their look by adding these new ideas. Many women are not sure what to buy. This fall season sees a return of the sophisticated elegant looks from the 1940sbold, shouldered suits and the classic touch of a hat and gloves worn with a tailored coat. When you shop this season follow these 12 trends. Be sure to find the trends that resonate with your signature style to update your fall wardrobe.

1) Cozi Cardis

The cardigan is the new alternative to the jacket. Styles vary from big chunky knits to long sweater coats. One of the hottest looks of the season is the cardigan worn with a belt, a tailored shirt and dress pants for a smart business casual ensemble.

2) Retro Suit

The suit trend is about curves with the waistline accentuated by belts. Pinstripe suits return. Their vertical lines make you appear slender and tall. Be prepared: suits with strong shoulders reminiscent of the 40s are making a comeback.

3) Shine On

Shine returns with striking metallic huesgunmetal, titanium, platinum, bronze, copper, and old antique gold. Fabrics with sheen and shimmer can be worn day or night. Choose sequins and radiant satins to add sparkle to your holiday gala apparel.

4) Graphic Designs

Geometric prints and color blocking continue to be high fashion for blouses, dresses, and coats. Add one or two of these prints to your wardrobe, but be cautious. One geo print goes a long way!
5) Old Country Fabrics

Texture in fabrics reappears this season. Retro looks show old country fabricstweeds, hounds-tooth, tartan plaid and herringbone.

6) Its About Hue

Color is back. This season if you wear black, wear it with colors like burgundy, claret or red. Grey is another classic color for fall. It looks fabulous when worn with black to soften the look. Green is the hot color of the season, in hues from turquoise, kelly, forest, and teal.

7) Born to Be Wild!

Exotic animal prints and skins appear in clothing, handbags, belts, bracelet cuffs, and shoes. Use an animal print to accent a neutral suit to look stylish and chic. Remember to only wear one animal print at a time.

8) Zipped Up

Zippers are the hardware of the season. Zippers will be on everythingclothing, handbags, shoes, and gloves.

9) Belt Driven

The wide belt is the hottest accessory for fall. These big belts come in an array of styles from quilted, colored leather obi belts, and leather belts trimmed with multiple buckles. This must-have of the season is a great accessory to dress up a look and create an hourglass shape.

10) Get a Patent

Patent leather is the new accent trim on jackets, tops, dresses, and coats. This high gloss leather is also on accessories like handbags, belts, watches, and shoes.

11) Arm Glam

Everyone will be gazing at your arms this fall. So, show off your bangles. Whether you feel comfortable wearing several bangles, large cuff bracelets, or a pair of leather glovesyour arms have the attention. Gloves make a return. They are beautifully detailed with buttons and patent leather trims.
12) Step Above

Shoes for the season include colorful, shiny, metallic, and textured leathers. Key styles are wedges, crocodile heels, stilettos, ankle boots, and tall boots.

On your next shopping trip, try on a few of these latest trends to see which ones work for you. By incorporating these trends, all appropriate for all ages, you will look more modern and receive multiple compliments on your updated stylish image.

Fashion vs. Elegance : Creating a balance

Wearing the right thing, having the right look and trying to fit in is all part of the lifestyle of most modern women. We constantly get different answers on what look is in, and there is a constant competition to have the "latest" fashion accessory and be 'in the know' about the future of fashion to be ahead of the game.

Why do fashions change all the time? Why should leather be in fashion one season and faux fur the next? Why do people follow fashion and buy the latest must have when they have enough clothes already? What's hot and what's not? Do we ever really know? And is there a way of keeping up with fashion without blowing our hard earned salaries on the high street? Visit www.thetextperts.co.uk/sales_text_alerts.html for updates on all the latest sales.

You see, the problem with fashion is that most women look at their wardrobe and see a choice: follow the fashion and have an ever changing collection of clothes and styles and an ever dwindling bank balance, or give up all together and wear what looks okay even if you are dressed in that trusty coat you bought when you were a student that's 2 sizes too big now and is frayed at the hem.

Whatever happened to people owning timeless pieces that embraced longevity? Look at the fashions over the last 10 years. How many of those must have pieces are throw backs from a fashion past that spans decades? A fashion past full of trends that would normally cause a raised eyebrow of disdain...until a fashion house launches a collection that recognizes and encompasses these fashions and reproduces some of these timeless pieces. Think about it, how many times have you heard your mother say she used to have a dress just like the one you've been coveting when she was your age? If only she had kept a few key items and not moved on with the constant changing fashion, disposing of anything that wasn't in vogue.

From my earliest childhood memories I can remember a fascination with women who were well dressed and fashionable. As I grew up I tried to emulate these women, and actually just gained an unhealthy obsession with clothes and fashion, buying clothes and accessories until my wardrobe, groaning under the strain, finally gave up the ghost and I invested in hanging rails that I jammed into my spare bedroom full of pieces I didn't wear from one year to the next. My penchant for quantity jaded my judgement on the quality of my wardrobe.

The final decision about what to buy, or whether to buy anything at all, belongs to you. Ultimately, fashions change because many people like new and different styles, but if these 'new and different styles' are just reproductions of the past then why do we spend all our hard earned cash on owning them? The answer, empty your mind, and your wardrobe of unnecessary clutter, focus on the quality of pieces not the quantity, fixate on the timeless pieces, ones that are well made and can be worn from one year to the next, with style and elegance, and most of all ones that suit you.

Jeans Never Die

Take a peek at anybodys closet be it a toddlers, a teeny boppers, a working professionals or even an oldies and you will find a good old pair of jeans. Jeans has been part of the fashion industry for quite sometime and it never seems to grow out of popularity and it never seems to go out of fashion. The different styles of how the jeans are designed changes through the fashion seasons but they always come back. You may find it hard to believe but when jeans were first introduced into the fashion scene they werent that popular at all. Now, millions everyday get into their jeans and wear them to school and for some even to work. I suppose the versatility of the jeans have made it a staple in every closet.

Jeans have gone through several transitions from the bell bottom jeans to the tight cigarette jeans type. Then there was the emergence of the hip hop very loose jeans that were sported by rappers mostly. Womens jeans come in a variety of styles from low rise denim jeans, to hipsters, to those with boot leg cuts, or straight cuts. Many types of jeans are also embellished with numerous beads, stones, sequins and the like and most are also styled with intricate embroidery design. The possibilities to what you could do to jeans are endless. People are even giving their good old jeans that worn out look by ripping them on certain areas that would show some skin like the thigh for the women. Wearing ripped jeans gives that rugged, rebellious look to a man and would make a woman look very hip and chic. You may have noticed many celebrities sporting these ripped jeans.

What is in right now among the women are those tight fitting jeans wherein you could just overlay a long blouse or a short dress on top. These are usually made of stretch material to conform to any body type as well as accentuate you in just the right curves. Dark colored jeans would definitely give a more slimming effect, which is what most women are looking for.

Irregardless of what your choice of jeans would be as to cut, style, color, texture and even wash, I guess what matters most is that you look good in it. Most importantly you should be confident and comfortable when wearing it for this is what makes or breaks a certain look
